Each of the main characters is on a journey of discovery, seeing the people put in their paths with new eyes. For Priscilla Nichols, this happens when she becomes involved with the social injustice of human trafficking.

I first learned of the Slave Narratives, as they're called, while researching slavery in Texas for my plantation novels. Drawn to the word-for-word and often heart-wrenching telling of life in bondage, I wanted to learn more about the narratives and how they came about.
